CSS Colors

Colors are a vital part of the design of a web site. So it should be no surprise that CSS allows us to choose colors tuned to the last miniscule details.

There are essentially three ways of specifying colors in CSS:

• Keywords: human readable shortcuts for RGB hex code values
  • black, silver, gray, purple and many more
• RGB: color expressed using combination of red, green, blue and optional alpha components
  • #RRGGBB, rgb(255, 10, 255, 50%)
• HSL: color expressed using combination of hue, saturation, lightness and optional alpha components
  • hsl(270, 60%, 70%), hsl(270, 60%, 50%, 15%)
